At the foot of Camping du Château Vert, you’ll find the magnificent Hez-Froidmont forest. Covering 2,800 hectares, it is filled with beech and oak trees. In the center, at the crossroads known as “Le Magasin,” forest paths intersect from east to west and north to south. You can’t miss it, as there is a charming forest house marking the spot. It only takes a few minutes by car (5 km) to reach it, and from there, you can embark on picturesque and invigorating walks. One of them will lead you to the Saint Lucien Oak, while another will take you to the… Saint-Louis Oak!
For the more athletic and avid hikers, there is a 20 km trail with an elevation gain of 338 m, lasting approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes.

For bicycle enthusiasts, there are several marked or free routes available. The level of difficulty is mainly related to the topography of the forest. Indeed, it is located on a plateau that reaches a height of 160 meters. While experienced cyclists won’t be intimidated by the climb from the camping site to the “Magasin” crossroad, casual cyclists may encounter some difficulties. But don’t worry, we can “teletransport” you and your bikes to the “summit” of your “Everest”. From there, it’s pure bliss! You can choose to explore the forest towards the east on a charming paved and flat road, or head north towards La Neuville-en-Hez. However, in the latter case, you’ll need to climb back up or go around the forest.
Furthermore, the Hez-Froidmont forest is a paradise for mountain bikers who enjoy slopes, forest trails, and wild nature. It’s not uncommon, while riding along a trail, to come across a startled deer that will be just as surprised and bewildered as you.
